Hybrid cars that are available today can cost about five thousand dollars more than conventional vehicles in the same weight class or type. But if you think about the fuel economy, you would definitely be willing to pay five thousand dollars more for a car that has great fuel mileage.

The gas price is not the only reason why many people would now prefer hybrid vehicles. Another reason is that most people are getting more and more concerned about the environment. Because hybrid cars will be using less gasoline, it means that it will emit lower levels of tailpipe fumes. In fact, a particular hybrid car emits ninety percent less tailpipe fumes than conventional vehicles as well as fifty percent less greenhouse gas.

So, if you own a hybrid vehicle, you will also contribute to the environment. The government is also offering huge tax breaks to people who own hybrid cars. This means that as a hybrid car owner, you will not only save money on gasoline consumption, but you will also be able to save money on tax breaks imposed by the government to hybrid car owners.
