How does one manage one's business expectations when things change so quickly? The goalposts keeps moving which means your expectation do as well. This in turn means your goals will have to adjust accordingly.

Think about the first decade of this new century. So much has happened over this time period with significant advances made in every facet of life. Especially on a technological level where life is practically unrecognizable to what it was 10 years ago.

The Internet was just starting to take root in 2000 but now it is mainstream in every aspect of life. Back then there was still a little bit of skepticism and anxiety regarding it. No longer is it regarded as some scary thing but has been embraced. You can do practically anything and everything while online and you can be online in a multitude of different ways.

Internet Cafes are a thing of the past as people can surf the net via their 3G Phone or Blackberry. That is if they aren't carrying around their micro-computer which has wireless access.

People are literally logged in every second of the day. This means they are far more productive. This is going to affect business because people are now contactable every second of the day.

Speaking of the office, it has changed radically over the last 10 years. Print outsourcing wasn't really happening to the extent which it is today. Companies weren't so keen to follow such a course. But once the advantages of managed print services was pointed out and documented it was the logical step to follow.

For a business who is aware of its capabilities and what it can deliver for what cost, outsourcing document services is a smart business decision. It means letting the experts take care of something at a more cost effective output.

There may be some instants where to outsource document services isn't such a clear-cut black and white decision. When this is the case, you really have to consider all factors before making a decision.

Technology in the workplace also experienced a dramatic increase over the last 10 years. Printers were always advanced but by decade's end they were practically writing and printing the documents themselves. Of course this isn't the case where the person is in full command of everything. But a person who is knowledgeable and aware of everything that it can do has the ability to produce masterpieces.

As time evolves businesses are going to spend more time looking at every aspect of the business and how things can be done in a superior more cost-effective manner. If outsourcing to another city or country is the way to go then so be it. Businesses are also embracing contemporary academic thought to capitalize on what the best have to say.

What your expectations and goals are going to be at the end of 2019 are different to the ones you have now. That is just natural. Whether you are a large corporation or a fish and chip store this is going to be the case. The fact that there is change is inevitable - it is the ones who adapt the quickest to change who will be the most successful.
