A Basic Guide to pH Levels in the Body

The potential for hydrogen, more commonly known as pH, is an important factor in maintaining our body's health. The electrolytes that are responsible for the proper functions of our body are dependent on the correct pH balance within each person. Lack of pH balance in the human body will cause the cells to slow down when it comes to incorporating nutrients inside our body.
The pH balance of the body is one thing you don't normally hear from your doctor when you visit for a check-up. It is important in regulating the function of tissue and cell growth. Running low on pH balance inside the body will cause the body to experience an excessive feeling of fatigue, bone weakness and exposure to infections. If you suspect you have a low pH level, you can have some tests in order to find out the level of pH within your body.
What you need to know about your body's pH level
Acidic pH - Acidic pH is when your body tries to return to its normal alkalinity. During the process, your body may take some nutrients from your bones to help, causing your bones to weaken and become brittle. Calcium and magnesium is lost when you have a high acidic pH.
Causes of Acidic pH levels in the body
Low bone density - low bone density means you have only a small amount of calcium and magnesium inside. The process of your body trying to level alkalinity inside will cause too much damage on your bone structure.
Fatigue and illness - A lot of stressful and strenuous activities are being incorporated into our daily routines. Over time, our body loses energy and weakens during the process, causing low levels of nutrients inside the body. A proper balance diet is needed to overcome this.
Prevents nutrient absorption - When you have an acidic pH level, the acid tends to destroy the important nutrients that are supposed to be distributed inside your body.
Alkaline pH - Measuring pH in the body is from 0-14, with 7 being the normal and neutral level. An Alkaline pH level that is outside this range will create an unbalanced metabolism and sufficient nutrient distribution in the body is not present. Some of the symptoms may include:
Muscular cramps and spasm - Muscle contraction and over shortening that is often painful and unpleasant.
Deterioration of the digestive tract - Movement of food inside the body is important. Good pH levels in the body keep you from being constipated thus allowing you to keep your digestive tract healthy.
Susceptible to infections - Low pH levels in the body can weaken the distribution of nutrients inside. When nutrients are not properly transported, your cells will deliver less calcium and other important nutrients in your body causing you to become susceptible to infections.
Chronic fatigue - Chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as CFS is an illness that makes your body tired to the point that you can't do your normal activities on a daily basis.
One key factor in maintaining our body's pH level is to undertake proper exercise and eat a sensible diet. Dieting to gain a balance of pH levels is different from a diet to lose weight.
