A good book for your child will not only have illustrations, but helpful illustrations. This makes it easy for a small child to understand the book's meaning. Simple, short sentences are best for a child book. Complex language will confuse a child. The fewer words per page, the better reading it makes for a beginner. A young child's attention span is short and if a book has simple language usage, they are more likely to listen and enjoy the child book. They may even try to read a few lines for themselves!

Simple books, such as the Ladybird series, is a good way to start a child reading. Basic objects are named in this child book series, which helps to enhance the vocabulary of a young child. The next step after the Ladybird series is the Noddy or Mr. Men books. Mr. Men books still use simple language and vibrant pictures, but the sentences are a bit longer than the Ladybird series. As a child matures, popular books such as Little Women or the Just Williams series are appropriate. If a classic written for adults interests a child you know, consider purchasing an abridged version of Oliver Twist or The Three Musketeers.

The Many Benefits A Child Gets From Reading Books

Reading opens a whole world to children. As they read literature, they learn more about themselves and the world around them. Morals and principles are often laced in these books. An example being that stealing and telling lies are wrong and that some sort of punishment accompanies such behavior. Obviously a book store will carry multiple book options for children, but if purchasing new books is not feasible, take a trip to the library. Take your child with you and teach them how to responsibly check-out and borrow books from the library. If you're hard pressed to go out to pick up books, try the internet.
